Moving a home is tough but I do feel moving a studio and business is a whole other beast!
I was not sure my hands could hurt this bad or that I could be so tired but with that said the end has come and all the boxes, tubs and art making items are now in there new home!
It took 3 – 26 ‘ moving trucks with 4 moving men
11 Van loads
5 Subaru loads
The full story will be left for a stormy night by a fire when I need to tell a really scary story!
Total boxes: 97 Total tubs: 65
With an over all count of 162
The winner is: Luanne with 155
Thank you all for your guesses! it was fun to see how many it took and really put moving again in a new light! Luanne I will be emailing you today Congratulation!
Shop not organized but still working!Temporary in house studio till we get A/C in shop.Equipment stored in Garage
For me moving has always meant that I must stop, take stock of my life and then give up asking “why do I have so much stuff” and just put it in a box and move it to the new place!
To make this more fun I offer a guessing game! like that of how many jelly beans are in the jar, but “How many boxes and tubs does it take to move Holly Wilson’s Studio?”
I will not be counting the things that DO NOT fit in a box.
And yes there will be a fun give away at the end! The fun give a way will be an 3″ x 5″ encaustic Bird (no bronze) using an image of the winners as a base to work from, I get to pick the bird you most look like to ME!
Rules:
Post your guess here on the blog. I will number all the boxes and tubs I bring out of the 2 studios (one inside one outside)
The person who is the closes without going over will be contacted about their fun bird like image! I will post the winner and their bird image!
Here are a few images to help you figure just how much stuff there is to pack. I will not be counting the things that DO NOT fit in a box.
The Guessing end at midnight Central Standard time, July 31, 2013
Only one guess per person! check other numbers please
Happy Guessing!

“Stainless Steel Pins” those are the words I forgot to say to myself last time I did this base!
They will hold the investment in place so it does not move! We are happy and NOW ready to pour!
“Keeper of the Sorrows”, Bronze, 31″ x 29″ x 17″, by Holly Wilson
Working out where the sticks go and how many origami cranes I need. This is a piece I have been working on for about a year and then some. “Keeper of the Sorrows”.
It was inspired from a story of a young 12 year old Japanese girl, Sadako Sasaki, that was diagnosed with leukemia several years after radiation exposure from the atomic bomb that was dropped on August 6, 1945, near her home. She was trying to make 1000 cranes before her death. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, The crane in Japan is one of the mystical or holy creatures and is said to live for a thousand years, thus the 1000 cranes. The story tells that she managed to fold only 644 cranes before she became too weak to fold any more, after her passing her friends completed the cranes and buried them all with her. Now every year on Obon Day, which is a holiday in Japan to remember the departed spirits of one’s ancestors, thousands of people leave paper cranes near a statue of Sadako Sasaki. On the statue is a plaque: “This is our cry. This is our prayer. Peace on Earth.”
This story touch me in a way I just can not put words to.
